HAS Spaceport Development – Design-Build
Mission Critical is proud to announce Texas Sterling-Banicki’s Design-Build win of the Houston Airport System’s Spaceport Development!
The Joint Venture of Texas Sterling Construction and Banicki Construction is strengthened by their shared parent company, Sterling Construction Company. Texas Sterling-Banicki will team with aerospace infrastructure designer Kimley-Horn on this Design-Build to deliver Phase 1 of the Spaceport Development project on a 153-acre site. The scope includes construction of 53,000 square feet of laboratory and office space in addition to roadways and parking, water, wastewater, electrical power and distribution and communications facilities.
Mission Critical has worked with Texas Sterling-Banicki on other procurements, winning the HAS Hardstand project. Our team has also worked with Phoenix-based Banicki on other project pursuits, and so were well-suited to work with this Joint Venture on the HAS procurement.
As members of the DBIA, we at Mission Critical understand how to communicate between both Construction and Engineering groups. Given this skill and our previous knowledge and experience with these teams, we were able to synthesize ideas from all parties into a strong set of proposal documents. In this three-stage procurement, we developed a Statement of Qualifications, a Statement of Proposal, and an interview strategy and presentation that illustrated not only Texas Sterling-Banicki’s experience in designing and constructing this technical airfield and infrastructure work, but also their commitment to working with HAS to meet their vision and budget.
Due to the size and scope of this project, including vertical and horizontal construction in a technically difficult and restricted airfield area, Mission Critical advanced work through charrettes and content development meetings to ensure that the document reflected the team’s approach and exceeded compliance and document guidelines. Through a concerted effort and coordination, Texas Sterling-Banicki advanced through all three procurement stages to win this prestigious and exciting project.
